Gumbie and Tanzid make their debuts in Bangladesh's series opener against Zimbabwe

Bangladesh's skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto, elected to bowl in the opening T20I against Zimbabwe in Chattogram. His counterpart, Sikandar Raza, said his squad was eager to bat.

Joylord Gumbie made his T20I debut for Zimbabwe after the visitors made two changes. Tony Munyonga and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe played Zimbabwe's final Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka, however, they were replaced by Gumbie and Ryan Burl.
Tanzid Hasan also made his T20I debut for Bangladesh, who were missing the injured Soumya Sarkar. Mustafizur Rahman was not included in Bangladesh's team for this series since he is taking a sabbatical following his IPL stint with Chennai Super Kings. Mohammad Saifuddin was selected for his first international encounter since October 2022, following his recovery from a back ailment.
