Athapaththu and Sarvani were brought in by UP Warriorz for the
McGrath and Sultana Throw. UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants decided to bat first.
The captain of the Gujarat Giants, Beth Mooney, won the toss and decided to bat
in her team's crucial match against UP Warriorz, following the pattern set in
the Delhi leg.
"Been helping us out the past few games. Regarding her choice at the toss,
Mooney remarked, "Battering first seems to pay off for us."
Giants will be looking to bounce back following a devastating defeat to the
Mumbai Indians two days prior. They made one alteration to their playing eleven
from that match, substituting vice captain Sneh Rana for left-arm spinner
Mannat Kashyap.
Alyssa Healy, the captain of the Warriors, seemed
unconcerned about the toss in their final group stage match of the WPL 2024.
They made two changes to the team that triumphed over the Delhi Capitals in an
exciting match on Friday. Tahlia McGrath, who is ill, was replaced by Chamari Athapaththu. Anjali Sarvani, a left-arm seamer, also managed to secure a spot
in the XI, taking the place of Goucher Sultana, a left-arm spinner.
In the WPL, the Warriors have defeated the Giants in every game they have played;
they did it while trailing. When these two teams last faced one other, it
was in the Bengaluru leg, where Grace Harris's 33-ball 60 enabled Warriorz to
reach a target of 143 with 26 balls remaining.
Warriors will go up to the top of the points table if they
win in Delhi, while the Giants' chances of qualifying for the playoffs will be
dashed if they lose.
One Alyssa Healy (capt, wk), two Kiran Navgire, three Chamari Athapaththu, four
Grace Harris, five Deepti Sharma, six Shweta Sehrawat, seven Poonam Khemnar,
eight Sophie Ecclestone, nine Saima Thakor, ten Rajeshwari Gayakwad, and eleven
Anjali Sarvani are the members of the UP Warriorz.
First Laura Wolvaardt, Beth Mooney (capt, wk), Dayalan Hemalatha,
fourth Phoebe Litchfield, fifth Ashleigh Gardner, sixth Bharti Fulmali, seventh
Kathryn Bryce, eighth Tanuja Kanwar, ninth Meghna Singh, tenth Shabnam Shakil,
and eleventh Mannat Kashyap are the Gujarat Giants.
