Hazlewood is back in the top ten in the T20I rankings, while Scholtz and
Erasmus of Namibia are impressive as well. Joe Root is now ranked No. 3 in the
ICC Test batter rankings after scoring his first century during England's
current tour of India.
Root moved up two spots and into the top three with his unbeaten 122 in the
fourth Test, his first significant at-bat performance of the series. In terms
of Test all-rounders, his performances as an off-spinner have also elevated him
to No. 4.
Jaiswal's climb has been rapid; he is currently just two places outside the top ten. He began the Test series ranked No. 69 in the rankings, but after scoring 655 runs in eight innings at an average of 93.57, he shot up to 12th place in just a few weeks. Kane Williamson of New Zealand remains at the top of the batters' rankings, followed by Steven Smith of Australia at No. 2.
World No. 2 R Ashwin has cut the gap to World No. 1 Jasprit Bumrah in the Test bowling rankings to only 21 rating points. Ashwin got five wickets in the second innings of the Ranchi Test to set up India's triumph, having missed portions of the Rajkot Test due to personal matters. Bumrah had taken a nap. Kagiso Rabada is third behind the two, followed by Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, two Australians.
Australia's
T20I bowling surge
Hazlewood's 4-1-12-1
performance against New Zealand in Auckland has pushed him up six spots to No.
7 in the rankings. With England spinner Adil Rashid leading the way and Sri
Lankans Wanindu Hasaranga and Mahesh Theekshana following closely behind, he
is currently the only Australian bowler in the top 10.
Among T20I hitters, Travis Head and Tim David have also moved up in the
rankings. Head moved up eighteen places to 19th place with his scores of 24,
45, and 33. Tim David is presently at a career-best 22nd after scoring 31 off
of 10 balls in Australia's final-ball victory in the first game of the series.
The top three are still held by Phil Salt, Muhammad Rizwan, and Suryakumar
Yadav.
Scholtz
creates Namibian History
With his six wickets in two games at the League 2 tri-series in
Nepal, Bernard Scholtz has set a milestone for Namibia by rising to the 11th
rank among ODI bowlers. Scholtz made 4 for 31 against Nepal and 2 for 15
against the Netherlands with his slow left-arm orthodox spin.
Australia's Glenn Maxwell and Scholtz's skipper, Gerhard Erasmus, are tied for
eighth place among ODI all-rounders. Erasmus shot 3 for 33 against the
Netherlands and blasted 52 against Nepal to leap eight spots into the top ten.
