Apologies to PCB for the Rossouw lbw error, Hawk-Eye

Hawk-Eye acknowledges that the delivery in question's ball tracking did not accurately depict the route of the real delivery that was submitted for review.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Hawk-Eye acknowledged a mistake made during Islamabad United's three-wicket loss to Quetta Gladiators on Thursday and sent a letter to the PCB apologizing for it.

The Gladiators' innings were in their eleventh over when the tragedy happened. Gladiators captain Rilee Rossouw attempted to sweep Salman Ali Agha off the last delivery of the over, but he was unable and the ball struck his front pad. An enthusiastic appeal from the fielding side was upheld by Aleem Dar, and Gladiators looked it over right away.

In the end, Hawk-Eye concluded that the ball had struck the left-hander outside the stump line and that it had the potential to miss off stump as well. The slow-motion review seemed to show the ball straightening instead of gripping and twisting, which clearly stunned both the fielding side and umpire Dar when they saw it on the big screen. A possible discrepancy between where the ball had struck Rossouw and where Hawk-Eye's tracking said it had struck was also hinted at by static photos of the impact on the pad, with the former considerably more likely to be in line with the stumps.

It is acknowledged in the letter to the Production Department and PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer that the ball tracking for the delivery in question did not match the route of the actual delivery that was submitted for inspection. It's still unclear what went wrong.
In an on-screen interview following the match, Islamabad's captain, Shadab Khan, did not try to hide his anger.

"I think technology made a mistake," he stated. "A new delivery was shown by the ball-tracking, and it was a moment that changed the game. In a tournament of this magnitude, these kinds of issues ought to be appropriately resolved. These errors ought not to occur. As a legspinner, I bowled four overs here, and I don't believe the ball was spinning. Additionally, they demonstrated Agha Salman's delivery, which struck outside off stump and spun away. That doesn't sit well with me."

Shadab's displeasure was exacerbated by the match's delicate balance. The Gladiators were rebuilding after losing four early wickets; Sherfane Rutherford and Rossouw were forming a partnership. With nine overs remaining, the Gladiators were 82 for 4, needing a further 57 to win. Their long tail left them especially vulnerable, as United thought a breakthrough there would blow the game wide open.
As things worked out, the two formed a combination that prevented United from winning the match. They scored 62 runs for the fifth wicket, with Rossouw remaining undefeated at 34 throughout.
